Where we go depends on what you want to see.
Where we go depends largely on the experience you want to have while birding in Montana. If you have a list of birds that you would like to see, we'll work with you on your ideal itenerary. If you just want to see some beautiful birds but don't care which ones, we can do that too. Typically we work within the Mission and Flathead Valleys in western Montana, around such hotspots as Duck Haven, Ninepipes, Kicking Horse and Flathead Lake. These areas are a mix of wetlands and prairies with the surrounding matrix consisting of coniferous woods. This mix of habitat means that these areas support a great diversity of ducks, shorebirds, raptors and songbirds. This is truly a birder's paradise.
Our field sites are conveniently located off of MT HWY93, right on the way to Glacier Park and Flathead Lake. If you are coming from Missoula, take I-90 West for 8 miles. Take exit 96 toward Kalispell and Glacier Park. Stay on highway 93 for about 45 miles until you see signs for Kicking Horse and Ninepipes.
